Settling down in SLC

Well, I have been down in Salt Lake City, Utah now for over 3 weeks. Living in South Salt Lake to be exact.

Living with my cousin has been awesome. Josh and I have been close our whole lives and talked about living with each other. So for us to actually be living out our dream has really been awesome. Being able to just chill with my family, who I consider my best friend has truly been an awesome awesome experience so far. Sure there are lots of fun times to come.

I spent the first couple of weeks being pretty lazy, I must admit. I liked the idea of having some time off to myself and just gathering the idea of being in a new place. I didnt want to go out and look for a new job, because that is never fun. However, I knew i needed to considering my financials were not in the best of situations thanks in part to my LAME surgery over a month ago. BLAH!!!

But, the job search was not one that went without reward. I was hired by P.F. Changs China Bistro just over a week ago and already have one day of training under my belt. I have the rest of that this week, and being my first scheduled shifts by my lonesome on thursday. That is pretty exciting. Now, PF's said they were only going to offer me about 15-20 hours. So, that being said nad knowing how restaurant hours work, I knew I was going to need to find money elsewhere. So, I got a second job haha (sorry to those of you out there without one job at all). I will be working for CTA Community Supports. They are a large non profit organization who help children (and grown adults) with autism. I will be teaching these people about daily life and skills they need to succeed in the "real world." I cannot wait to start that. Having a little brother with autism and niece with similar problems, autism is very close to my heart.

I will not become very busy. But that is something that I welcome after taking so much time off. During that time off however, I was able to take a trip up to Rexburg and see my lovely Jennifer. We spent a nice weekend there. She showed me her classes and the town of Rexburg. Didn't take long for her to do that haha. However, the temple there is beautiful! Not very much grounds around it, but it is a very pretty temple, especially at night when it is lit up and shines on top of the hill. I was able to go to church with her and see what she will be experiencing. Its nice to know what one's friends are doing when they are so far away from you and you want to stay as connected as possible. I feel that this was a great step in helping me accomplish that feat.

Not only did I go up there, but she was able to come down here and spend some time with me. I showed her my new place, which is rocking now that it has furniture haha. I gave her a tour of temple square and the conference center. That was a lot of fun. I think she really enjoyed that, since she had not been there in a really long time. We also went to the top of the C.O.B. and overlooked the city. Once we got down, I noticed a lovely piece of paper on my windshield. A BLASTED PARKING TICKET!!! My meter had expired by I swear like 2 minutes. I was not that pleased! That was my second one too. I got one earlier that week for my tags being expired. Yeah, not a great week for me till she got here!

So, my life in SLC has begun and the journey goes on. The next chapter in my life is starting to be composed and I cannot wait to see where it leads me.
